US trip 2010 Special: Las Vegas food

About the food:

Upon arriving at Las Vegas, we went to look for lunch that 1) wasn't that expensive and 2) was not a buffet. So, we took a cab from the uptown Las Vegas (i.e. where the newest hotels with the eat-all-you-can buffets were) going to downtown Las Vegas, where the older casinos and hotels were, and were the food was also cheaper and came at ala carte. It is not advisable to walk from uptown to downtown especially during summer time because it can be very hot, and the distance between the two is a long way. The temperature during noontime is so hot so as to blow out your tire wheels.

Moving on, for lunch, we had grilled steak,

fish fillet meal,

chicken

and clubhouse sandwich. There was nothing spectacular about the taste. However it provided good value for money.

One important thing to note when dining in a US restaurant is that, although there is no service charge/gratuity listed in the bill, it is mandatory that you leave at least a tip ranging from 7 % to 15% of your entire bill (percent varies depending on the state you are in). Not giving a tip will make you a persona-non-grata in that restaurant so it's best to be a bit generous.

Also, prices quoted in restaurants or stores often exclude sales tax (which also varies according to state). Hence it is best to double check before ordering or paying.
