Foodie Finds at Bacchus Epicerie and Rustans

About the food:

Great food finds aren't always found in restaurants. Sometimes you just find them in one corner of a gourmet shop, Bacchus Epicerie Iin Powerplant Mall Rockwell, and sometimes in your local supermarket, Rustans (also at Powerplant Mall).

In Bacchus Epicerie, you can find one of the most expensive and renowned chocolate brands, Vahlrona. I was lucky enough to find an 85% dark chocolate box of 18 pieces, which cost around PHP650.

To savor every peso spent on this chocolate, it's best that you don't eat it the same way you eat M&Ms. First off, you should eat it when it is at room temperature, and not frozen, so that the flavor would come out more. Secondly, you have to take time to taste it, and don't chew and swallow it like an ordinary candy.

Moving on, if you're looking for something bigger and chewier to enjoy, you can try cookies by Baked by Carmen. I found this one at a weekend food bazaar (either in Rockwell or Greenbelt).

Another more healthy find is Joyce's Portobello Mushroom in Extra Virgin Olive Oil (PHP 350). This is best served with the best bread you can buy. Or you can just add it on top of Skyflakes crackers. That works too.

In Rustan's supermarket in Rockwell, I chanced upon this rare treat: Mikawaya Mochi Ice Cream (PHP 125 for 2 pieces). The sweet rice dough was perfect throughout and the ice cream did not leak out the dough.

Finally, I found another dark chocolate variety in the supermarket, which is Ghirardelli 72% dark chocolate worth PHP166. This too, is another great find. To conclude, it does pay off to look around seemingly ordinary places. You'll be surprised at the things you did not notice before and that have been there ever since.
