Breakfast at Cafe 1771

About the food:

Another fantastic place to have THE best breakfast meal, aside from having it in a hotel, is at Cafe 1771.

cafe au chocolat (PHP170)

For one, they have that special cafe au chocolat beverage which is hot chocolate with a slight hint of orange. Maybe if the chocolate were darker, it would be even more fantastic.

For the meal, I got the unique Croque Monsieur.

croque monsieur (PHP350)
This is made out of ham, gruyere cheese, and bechamel sauce. In other words, this is a great way to start the day.

Where to buy and how much:

Cafe 1771 is located in El Pueblo at Ortigas, Pasig. It's near The Podium and Discovery Suites.

Where to buy and how much:

Visit any CBTL (Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf) branch and enjoy a good breakfast aside from teas and frappes.

Breakfast at FlapJacks

american breakfast

It's so fluffy I'm gonna die:) I am saying such out of the sheer enjoyment of looking back at the hotcakes in FlapJacks.

Flapjacks has been open for quite a while and its only been a few weeks back that I tried their breakfast options. I got the American Breakfast meal, which came with a free hot tea/coffee.

the pancakes were simply fantastic.

Adding hotcake syrup makes it even more delightful.

The sausage and bacon were also a good addition to the meal, as well as the fruits.

Where to buy and how much:

The above breakfast set costs PHP408.48 (including service charge). FlapJacks is located at the ground floor of Theater Mall in Greenhills Shopping Center.

Breakfast @ Bizu

About the food:

Are you tired of having instant noodles, hotdogs, or plain pandesal for the most important meal of the day (breakfast)? Or do you have an important breakfast meeting outside? If your answer is yes, then why not give Bizu a try.

The above Eggs Sole Benedict is really amazing. The bread is soft and fresh. The eggs match well with the sauce, and in between the eggs and the bread is a sole fillet of fish.

If you order this, it already comes with a complimentary coffee or chocolate.  I, of course, wanted the warm chocolate.

Where to buy and how much:

For a price of PHP434.50, this breakfast might give hunger pangs to one's wallets. However, you are paying for a quality breakfast meal. If you want to start the day right, you can treat yourself to a great breakfast or brunch start.

US trip 2010 special: International House of Pancakes (IHOP)

About the food:

Looking for a place to have a real breakfast in the States? Then look for the IHOP sign (International House of Pancakes). The name may sound strange at first if you're not familiar with it, but once inside, you'll understand it's all about breakfast and pancakes.

For one, they have bacon and eggs (and egg substitutes).

Their specialty, the pancakes. They have several varieties of syrup too.

To add some vegetables to your morning meal, why not try an omelette.

Finally, they also serve toasts, served with bacon and eggs.

US trip 2010 special: food in Washington DC

About the food:

After our stay at NY city, we took the Amtrak train going to Washington DC. Hence we dropped of at the beautiful and large train station there.

We had lunch at a small sandwich place there and I ordered the chicken wrap, which is quite enough to make me full.

I also found this energizing black tea (with no sugar, just honey), and fortunately it did not taste sweet.

Afterwards, we took the bus tours that went around the entire area of Washington. The bus tours had multiple drop off and pick up points at the various Smithsonian museums and other landmarks.

At the Air and Space Museum, there was a fastfood center located next to it so I got this roasted chicken meal.

Moving on to the next day, we walked out of the hotel and looked for a place to have breakfast.

We had breakfast at The Brown Bag.

I got this particular kind of omelette (they have other varieties)

Then I also got this muesli/granola with yogurt.

Finally, after a short stay at Washington, we headed off the airport and had lunch at McDonalds. There, their value meals were really big in size. They had 10PC nugget meals. Plus, when you one order an apple pie, you actually get two pieces. Drinks are bottomless too.
That concludes my foodtrip in Washington. Watch out for my next post:)
