A Taste of Sicilian Express

About the food:

Want pizza and pasta but don't want to order the usual Pizza or Shakey's? Why not try Sicilian Express? They have a different take on pizza flavors and have fairly good prices too. A14 inch Cinque Formaggi pizza costs PHP550. Meanwhile their Lasagna al Forno (picture below) costs PHP205.00 for a double size. Though you will really see the oil as you eat the lasagna, it does taste good. You have to be careful of cholesterol though.

Where to buy:

Sicilian Express has several branches with corresponding hotlines so you can enjoy your food at the comfort of your home (see picture above)

Pizza and pasta certainly taste great. but in terms of health, it is best to try other healthier alternatives, some of which I will post soon.

S&R pizza

About the food:

If there is one thing worth paying for in an S&R membership, it is the pizzas they have.

Like this shrimp and garlic pizza, the dough is fresh, shrimps are good, and there is a generous serving of garlic. In addition the serving size is good for one family.

Where to buy and how much:

At any S&R branch in the metropolis, you can buy their freshly baked pizzas and other foods such as hotdog sandwiches, as a member or a supplementary of the primary member. The price is competitive with major pizza chain prices. Quality is also superb.

Papa John's Pizza now in Manila

About the food

Papa John's Pizza is a popular pizza chain in the U.S. They're known as the best pizza that has the best ingredients (in relation to its competitors). Now, you don't have to go to apply for  a U.S. Visa just to have a slice.

I have personally tried the Super Papa flavor (PHP550 for 14 inch large) and the Simply Cheese (PHP440 for 14 inch large). I got the hand-tossed for both instead of getting the thin-crust. You have a choice of getting hand-tossed (thick) or thin-crust.

Furthermore, each pizza comes with two garlic sauces and one big yellow chili .

Rating: 7/10

If Shakey's is known for its thin-crust and Pizza Hut for its stuffed crust, I would recommend Papa John's pizza for its delicious dough. It's not as oily as other pizzas, but a pizza is still a pizza (junk food). Although it has healthy toppings, it is the dough that you eat more of. One slice won't make you full but it will give you lots of calories.

Where to buy:
The first branch of Papa John's Pizza can be found in Robinson's Galleria Veranda area. They will be opening more branches soon.
